Maintenance Technician

Pay Range: $20 to $24 per hour (DOE/DOQ)

Hours per Week: 40 hours

Workdays: Monday to Friday 8-5

JOB PURPOSE: Performs on site remodel and repair duties at our multiple locations to include our residential housing. Also assists the Facilities Supervisor in all necessary aspects of maintenance and repair.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with the repair and maintenance of all Agency facilities, including but not limited to the following sites:

  • Port Angeles Main Office
  • Sequim Office
  • Youth Services Center
  • Clallam County Respite Center
  • Horizon Center
  • Admin Annex
  • Supported Living Homes

Perform special project renovation or remodel duties, as assigned, including but not limited to the following:

  • Painting
  • Constructing office furniture
  • Miscellaneous carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical work
  • Other general construction

Communicates effectively with Supervisor and Management regarding any changes, progress, or problems pertaining to the functions related to this position.

Performs special projects or other general responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.

Performs required janitorial and custodial duties as assigned, including but not limited to the following:

  • Routine daily waste disposal
  • Vacuuming
  • Cleaning of bathrooms and kitchen areas, including all sinks, countertops, toilet bowls, walls, and floors

Performs periodic (weekly, monthly, quarterly as assigned) deep-cleaning activities, including but not limited to the following:

  • Window washing
  • Cleaning of stoves, ovens, refrigerators, outside gutters, and furnace filters
  • Waxing of floors (where/when applicable)
  • Carpet and upholstery cleaning

Assists with lawn and ground maintenance at all Agency sites, as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains familiarity with and handles client information in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); the Federal Regulations (42 CFR, Part 2), the Revised Code of Washington (RCW 71.05.390 and RCW 71.24), and other applicable laws pertaining to confidentiality of clients and staff information.
  • Maintains physical security of confidential materials and assigned Agency property.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Keeps Supervisor appropriately informed, requests guidance as needed, and exercises discretion and confidentiality as appropriate to this position.
  • Maintains a positive organizational perspective and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Coordinates with Supervisor to prioritize work assignments so that tasks are completed on time.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSE(S), CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Minimum High School Diploma/GED

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in maintenance, general labor and contracting, or general construction maintenance position

Other: Valid Driver's License (must have a satisfactory and insurable driving record to be able to drive company vehicles)

Additional requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
  • Must be able to provide vaccination records for MMR, Hep B, Tdap and recent flu shot

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL CREDENTIALS/EXPERIENCE:

Experience: Five (5) or more years experience in maintenance, general labor and contracting, or general caretaker position

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of staff and overall organizational culture
  • Ability to prioritize workload, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Physical Demands:

  • Moderate to physical effort (lift/carry up to 75 lbs.)
  • Frequent standing/walking.
  • Regular lifting of supplies and equipment.

Cognitive Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Working Environment:

  • Requires exposure to all elements, indoor and outdoor.
  • Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases.
  • Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors.

Working Demands:

  • Frequent pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
  • Contact with consumers and family members under a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
  • Handles emergency or crisis situations.
  • Subject to long irregular hours.

Principal Challenges:

  • Handling and responding to numerous work orders and requests.
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the PBH team.
